Mobility Scooter Convoy – Guinness World Record Attempt
CALLING ALL SCOOTERS!!
Last year we broke the Australian Record with 172 participants!
This year we are going for the Guinness World Record (currently held by Canada with 159 mobility aids in convoy).
We are confident we will have the number of scooters/wheelchairs required for the record, however there are a host of extra rules and requirements to gain the official world title.
Participants can register from 8am on the day at Scarness Park on the Esplanade, with the official convoy underway at 9.30am (Saturday 3 September).
To make the process faster, you can pre-fill a copy of the registration form and bring it with you on the day Click here for the form.
There are prizes for the best decorated vehicle; best decorated person and best decorated hat; plus free food and entertainment after the convoy at Scarness Park.
Council is also calling for anyone willing to volunteer on the day as a track marshal to contact Halcro Street Community Centre on 4194 2441.
The aim of the day is to promote the safe use of mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
These vehicles are very important; they enhance people’s independence and mobility.
The convoy also promotes awareness of scooters and wheelchairs using footpaths across the region.
