The annual Marina Party and Blessing of the Fleet is returning to Hervey Bay, a marine mecca! This customary event marks the commencement of the whale watching season, and it includes various fun activities for all ages, food stalls, and live music at the Marina Party. The event will conclude with a procession of the Whale Fleet and other boats receiving a blessing from a local minister to ensure safe and prosperous tours throughout the upcoming Whale Watching season and beyond. The Blessing of the Fleet is a cultural event with its origins in fishing communities from the Mediterranean. It is believed to have originated from ancient times when fishermen sought protection and a fruitful catch from Saint Peter, the patron saint of fishing. This event is highly recommended for both locals and visitors to experience the lively culture and community spirit of Hervey Bay.
