Hervey Bay Whale Festival – Paddle Out for Whales

Join us for an unforgettable moment in time of fun, community, and whale appreciation at Paddle Out for Whales. This incredible event brings people together to honour and celebrate these magnificent creatures of the sea. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or just starting out, all are welcome to participate as we paddle out into the bay and raise awareness for whale and ocean conservation.

The event has a rich history that dates back to the early days of the whale watching industry in Hervey Bay, starting as a peaceful protest against the whaling industry. The event was held in memory of the whales that lost their lives in the previous year, with one flower released into the ocean for each one. It has since evolved into a powerful symbol of hope for the future of these amazing creatures.

During the event, we’ll observe a minute of silence to recognize the importance of the ocean and whales to the world. So grab your paddleboard, kayak, or surfboard and join us in this meaningful tribute to the majesty of these gentle giants. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure that whales continue to thrive for generations to come.
